Now AccessPoint version 7.0 includes the
InfoPoint features of an embedded Relational Database and requires Linux Red Hat
7.3 and MySQL for fast interface with
the real-time and historian database. The software is web enabled for open
connectivity for an easily presentation of data.

application. The internet SCADA server is basically a special
console server that receives http requests from the internet and posts
appropriate responses. The end result for the user is that they are able
to 'log on' to a SCADA site and see what they would see if they were using a
real local console.
Remote connection to the SCADA center from
laptops and PDAs in the field. Monitoring and controlling RTUs from PDAs are
possible, commands can be sent to the RTU through PDA or note-book. PDAs are
also a legitimate target for distributed alarm notification, both from the SCADA
center, and directly from the RTUs in the event the SCADA centers are
unreachable.
This distributed alarm notification is another area where the alarm reporting
system is more than just a SCADA alarms. It is a complete trouble ticket
system, in which some reports are generated by RTUs via the SCADA system, and
other reports are keyed in by call center operators. The alarms need to be
sent to the appropriate chief center (remote site) and/or technician PDAs.
Receipt of alarms must be acknowledged from the remote site, or they get
escalated at the SCADA center. Operators at the chief station or
technicians in the field update the trouble ticket with an explanation of the
problem, and mark them closed when the problem is solved.
